THE INSPIRATION

Alessandra was inspired to create A BETTER PLANET, A BETTER WORLD while writing the book  SOS Planet Earth: Voices for a Better World.

Her vision became even more apparent when she traveled to Lapland, Finland, in the middle of the pandemic in 2020 to chase the northern lights and seek a better life in nature. While she couldn’t capture the magical dance of those lights on camera, she discovered nature’s breathtaking beauty, unpredictable spirit, healing, and regenerative power. Alessandra had already experienced this after numerous trips and periods of residence, often for months, in some of the wildest and most remote areas on the planet, including Australia and French Polynesia.

Lapland possessed the same spell to surprise and conquer the soul, and during the anxiety caused by the global pandemic, it looked like a paradise on another Earth. This was due to the warmth of the Finnish people, some of the happiest in the world — as Finland has been ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world to live for years  — their animals, such as the reindeer, and secrets discovered from the local indigenous people, the Sami. Their traditions and folklore are strongly connected to their respect for nature. Alessandra was also quite impressed by the determination of the Finnish high-tech scene, which is very similar to that of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, to find sustainable solutions for a better world.
